Jeff Snedegar
Class of 2006
Jeff Snedegar (Buckeye Trail High School, Class of 1995). He put up lofty numbers during his four-year gridiron career, culminating in his selection as the APAll-Ohio Division V Offensive Player of the Year and finishing as runner-up in the voting for Ohio’s 'Mr. Football' award following his senior season.A6 ft. 3, 210-pound four-year letterman at quarterback and linebacker for the Warriors, he racked up 7,000 yards offensively and registered 673 tackles on defense. He also earned second team All-Ohio following his sophomore and junior years and was a three-time All-Eastern District and All-OVAC selection.
As a senior, he led Trail to its first and only OHSAA playoff appearance (the Warriors finished with an 11-2 overall record, winning two games before losing in the Division V state semifinals to Wellsville). That year, he passed for what was then a school record 1,769 yards while rushing for 1,621 yards for a combined total of 3,390 yards. He participated in 212 defensive stops as a senior.
Snedegar was also a three-year letterman in basketball (he didn’t play as a junior), finishing fourth on Trail’s all-time scoring list with 834 points and third in career rebounding with 561.
He averaged 16.1 points per game as a senior, earning special mention APAll-Ohio as well as first team All-Eastern District and All-OVAC.
The 2000 Buckeye Trail Hall of Fame inductee went on to a stellar career at the University of Kentucky (1996-99), earning four letters as an outside linebacker.
As a freshman, he had 42 tackles, started three games and was named the outstanding special teams’ player and he followed that up with 97 tackles as a sophomore. Snedegar had 63 tackles and four sacks as a junior, helping Kentucky to an Outback Bowl berth where he recorded 11 tackles in a loss to Penn State University.
In his final year at UK, he had 84 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions, earning him defensive MVP honors. He was selected to the All-Southeast Conference squad and was named to the All-American Farm Football Team by Successful Farming Magazine.
Snedegar was signed by the Miami Dolphins of the NFL in 2000 as an undrafted free agent. He is currently a member of the Buckeye Trail football coaching staff.
